♪ 100th Birthday! ♪

Oh Goodness, I haven't blogged in a few months now, but I did not vanish! I always read my followers blogs! Don't worry~  ヾ(*´・3・`*)ノ Actually this blog is a bit delayed itself, and a lot has happened between now and uhmm, when I last blogged. My life is rather hectic suddenly, with one thing or another but I will probably explain in another blog post! (o・ｖ・人)♪

 

On July 10th, my Great Grandma celebrated her 100th Birthday! We visited her on her actual Birthday, and had a party the following Sunday where we had Family from all over the UK and Europe (well, Italy) came to visit her! It's rare to celebrate such an occasion, and she even got a card from the Queen herself! Which was amazing to see in person, usually you only see it on the News, rarely!

 

On the following Sunday we had the Party! It was held in my Grandma's home, she lives with her Mum, so it was the best location too because her garden is super big! We had a huge gazebo and it was a bit like a Tea Party - with no tea.. and only one cake.

My Aunt and Uncle supplied the food, and we did the decorations. Sadly I don't have any photos of the decoration - or food. I actually didn't take many photos at all. (_ _ ||) It was difficult because I didn't want to seem rude by using my phone often. 

 

YUM YUM WATER, due to personal reasons I shouldn't drink alcohol, even a low percent, well I lie my shandy at home is 0.05% alc so.. at the party I was limited to water and flat warm cola. Which I wasn't happy about considering my Family know my situation r00d.

 

Ta-da~ cake! We also supplied the cake, which was pretty amazing! I mailed a photo to my Boyfriend and he was impressed with the size alone because it was a three tier cake! Yummy and sickly sweet. The cake had "rolls of film" around it, to show my Great Grandma's 100 years of life, or ATTEMPTED to, granted cameras had not been so popular back in those days, and some film had more than likely been lost over the years. Anyway the cake had Family photos and photos of places my Great Grandma had visited all over the world. Hearing her stories is always great, even if her 'today memory' is fuzzy, she can remember something  60 years ago perfectly!!  

It was a long day, and afterwards we helped clean up and move stuff back to the original place in the Garden. It was super tiring, so I had to sit back indoors and rest. This feeling of constant lethargic is really dragging me down.. until I get mounds of energy which just pisses people off HAH. It was a really fun day~ even if I didn't know 90% of the people, even though I may have met some of them, fifteen years ago.

☆ Birthday Boy ☆

Sep 12 2012: Today was my Boyfriends Birthday! I had come from the UK with only a few gifts already, however I hadn't found him anything big and well, meaningful? I was actually in a bit of a pickle and running out of time, but luckily he was working during the day so I had time to run out into the sunshine and shop!

Well I was actually clueless as to where I could buy candles, but on our most recent shopping trip in Yokohama I spotted some in a 100 yen shop so I quickly made note! (´ω`) The Stitch plate was also for 100 yen, my Boyfriend doesn't seem to have a plate large enough for what I had planned. 

While fetching the cake from the super market I found the 'Baking Aisle' and temporarily wanted to kick myself because I could have baked.. However I did spot this!! I'm a Lilo and Stitch fiend and my Boyfriend doesn't mind it either (well he doesn't disagree with my addiction either) It's a chocolate name plate, but with Stitch and Scrump - SO CUTE. 

I also found some cute little gift bags, which will be useful for when I go back home, hoping I can get EVERYTHING back home. Here is the table! (●・ω・●)ノ I was so proud of myself.

However my Boyfriend arrived home an hour earlier than usual, so I spent five minutes blocking his way in AND blocking the fridge where the cakes were hiding. Eventually convincing him to go back out and get me melon soda, I rushed to prepare his cakes~ ta-da~~

He came back and had a smoke, asking me various times what was wrong, is it that hard to surprise a man?! But I ushered him into the room to see his cake and presents. His reaction was priceless, I wanted to film him since he moved back into the kitchen totally shy and amazed. (ﾉ)´ω`(ヾ) We took some photos of his cake etc before I set fire to everything lit the candles.

I apologised to him for not singing "Happy Birthday" since I sing out of key and horribly so it was for the best. The cakes were delicious, a cream spongecake and a cheesecake! After he opened his presents, which I was rather nervous about. But his smile and curiosity with everything made it seem worth while. He did leave the biggest till last - which made me nervous again when he opened it. (´Д` ) But he loved it! I am so glad that everything turned out wonderfully. I was so eager to blog about it that I skipped a couple other important blogs. But they will come soon, I promise!

(o´ω｀o) Easter Fun + the Seaside!

ハッピー・イースター！

I know, a day late however I was out all Easter Sunday. My Family decided we should go to the seaside for the day! 楽しー! Even though many of my Friends say how they are 'too old' for Easter Eggs, I always seem to find myself shying away from my pile of delicious chocolate. So did any of my readers get any? ＼(＾▽＾*)

 

The day before Easter, my Brother suggested we made Easter cakes! The instructions are really basic, since pre-schools will often teach Children this! There are different and additional twists into making unique 'Easter Nest Cakes' but ours were pretty basic! You only need main two ingredients! These are quick and simple to make!
- Cornflakes / コーンフレーク
- Chocolate / チョコレート
Additional ingredients but not completely necessary:
- Marshmallows / マシュマロ
- Mini Eggs / ミニエッグ
- Jelly Beans / ゼリービーンズ
- Shredded Wheat (used to make a 'nest' for the above toppings)

Then the rest is really simple and straight forward! Heat up the chocolate in either a microwave or hob (be careful not to burn it, or yourself) then gradually tip the chocolate onto the cornflakes, stirring gently to coat the cornflakes evenly. Depending on how chocolatey you want the cakes, add more chocolate!
Finally, evenly spoon the chocolate cornflakes into muffin cakes and leave to set! Depending on your topping choice, you can add whatever you want! Since it was Easter, my Brother and I added mini chocolate eggs.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy! (o*･ω･)ﾉ They are delicious too! I couldn't find any Japanese recipe instructions, the Boo seemed interested in my basic cooking abilities, but trying to put this into Japanese would be difficult. Even if I sent: 'MELT CHOCOLATE. MIX' but I promised to make some~ since it's simple enough.

 

On Easter Sunday the weather was pretty grim and cold, but we still headed to the Seaside, the closest beach takes around 2 hours to reach by car, as a result I ended up feeling rather travel sick. But luckily it passed. I only took a couple photos, my Brother had his camera but hasn't uploaded any yet~

 

It shows how grey the day was. The handrail did belong to a slope, but.. I don't actually know.. (_ _ ||)

Well, that was pretty much it for the Easter weekend, today I visited my Grandmother and Great Grandmother and received another chocolate egg from my Uncle!  Amazing~ Oh, my other Aunt and Uncle own Chickens, so our Grandmother gave us these! Since they're free range, I don't think anyone will eat them, so I'm going to attempt making 'Egg drop soup'!! So I will see you all when I am out of A&E. (。ｏ゜)
